Lothar Semmlinger

Lothar Semmlinger was once a student of Master Albert Lang, whereby he acquired the knowledge and skills of making string instruments. His capability was further magnified after he worked with Karl Hofner and got the title of "Master Craftsman of Bow Instruments" of the craftsmen Chamber of Numberg. He worked as a master for four years, set up his own workshop, manufactured his own instruments and carried on to serve Benedikt Lang which he eventually got in charge of. Since then, he began to produce finely handcrafted instruments with his two sons Stefan, Christian and two assistants.

Looking into the characteristics of Semmlinger instruments, the deep acoustic pitch and their excellent sound power are undeniably the strength that distinguishes it from others. Besides, Semmlinger also picks several types of woods to build his violins which include Italian poplar, maple from the Alps, Balcanic fir tree and ebony from India. All the raw materials are handled carefully and intelligently in order to produce the best instrument. Violins available from Lothar Semmlinger are designed for students to soloist.
