Violin String

There are 3 types of violin strings namely gut strings, steel core strings and synthetic core strings.
  • Gut Strings - It is famous for its warm and rich sound. Besides that, it also requires the violinist to stretch more in order to make it stable. However, it can be affected due to the weather and therefore requires more tuning than other strings.
  • Steel Core Strings – It is created after gut strings but before synthetic core strings. It is famous for its direct and clear sound. This kind of string is more stable than gut string and it is normally thin.
  • Synthetic Core Strings – It is the latest invention and it is made of nylon perlon. It is popularly used because it is as warm as gut strings, but it is far more stable than it.
  • It is recommended for beginners to use steel core strings as it is cheaper due to its manufacturing method and materials. Besides, stability and price are the main reasons on why it is recommended for beginners. As the violinist grows in experience, he or she can venture into more advanced kind of strings.
