Kawai

Being one of the widely renowned musical instrument companies in the world, Kawai’s fundamental principle is to constantly pursue quality, music appreciation and the artistic excellence. Their quest for exquisite and craftsmanship elevates the piano to an art form, an expressive extension of the artist. Despite the prestigious achievement of the company, it was humbly founded in 1927 by Koichi Kawai, a gifted piano craftsman in Hamamatsu, Japan. The tradition of family leadership at Kawai lives on from generation to generation by Koichi’s son, Shigeru Kawai and grandson, Hirotaka Kawai, who were then appointed as company president in year 1955 and 1989 respectively. Today, Kawai is graded at the top three piano brands, together with Yamaha and Steinway. They offer acoustic pianos extending from entry level home uprights to popular concert grand pianos. On top of that, they are also well known for their digital pianos and keyboards, for home and professional use.

Kawai marketed piano action parts which featured ABS Styran in early 1970s, marked a history in the world of music. ABS Styran is a strong and stable material that overcomes many complications associated with wood, namely shrinking and swelling. Following that in 1990s, these designs were steadily refined and improved until the unveiling of our “Ultra-Responsive ABS Action” whereby it outperforms traditional “all wooden” actions in the area of reliability, durability and long-term consistency of touch. Contemporarily, Kawai introduced the “third generation” of the piano action, namely the Millennium III. This revolutionary action utilizes innovative materials and design techniques to provide even greater satisfaction to the player.

A grand piano is made up of over nine-thousand precision parts, wood, metal, fiber, resin, and many other materials. These world-class instruments readily translate artistic intentions into reality and are oftentimes the selection of many. The performance of Kawai’s grand pianos is paramount above all. Besides providing an extremely fast and controllable action, their grand piano’s mechanism design is able to give the pianist a responsive feel while playing on it.

Upright Piano:

One of the basic factors that affects the quality of their upright piano performance is indefinitely the design of its mechanism. Kawai makes use of some composite parts including carbon fibre, to create a range of mechanisms which contribute to their pianos’ superior touch. The Kawai upright pianos range from K Series Professional Uprights and stunning FINO Interior Design pianos to the attractive designer consoles and sturdy institutional studio pianos. As we can see, there is a Kawai upright piano to customize for every taste, budget and musical requirement with proven assurance of Kawai quality.
