The founder of Pramberger Piano Ltd., Johann Joseph Pramberger, established this company in 1987, together with his father Anton, whom had worked in close proximity with him in rebuilding pianos. Anton, a Master Artisan since his young age, holds on to the principle that is being passed down to the family hierarchy, which is to “meticulously observe only the best work of others, and absorb every possible detail and nuance of their craft.” After migrating to United States from Europe in 1950, he worked as a pattern maker for fine pianos in Steinway piano factory in Astoria, New York for 25 years since then. At the same time, Joseph Pramberger moved to America with his father as well. Counting from year 1958 where he first took up the post as Design and Project Engineer in Steinway & Sons®, he used up 29 years in honing his skills and became the Chairman of the International Technical Exchange Group. The formation of his own company was followed by then.
Pianos designed by Pramberger are never pertaining to costs, but on quality of performance. In accordance to that, Joseph acquired mechanical engineering skills in New York University. Besides, he also traveled to several countries such as Europe, Japan and Korea to seek advice from key suppliers, so as to realize perfection in design. Joseph believes that a piano design will never have an ending. Thus, creating a high-rated piano marks the process of design evolution. Joseph never walked alone as his ideas and philosophies were shared by a handful of top piano engineers who were part of his teams.
Other than that, materials that Pramberger selected were all of high quality. They utilized an all maple rim on its grand pianos, which had been recognized as the best, together with oak and beech for the named model. Once again, their aim was not to save cost. Maple rim gives strength, resilience, and tonal excellence. Besides bottom beams of grand piano and back post of verticals are made up from spruce, tuning pins are from strong steel alloy whereas iron plates are gone through sand casting. Renner Blue Label AAA hammers and Pramberger/Renner Premium Performance action were also developed and used. Last to be mentioned will be the German Roslau Strings and the original asymmetrical Canadian White Spruce soundboard.
Premium Blue Hammer
Timbre, power and sustain were exclusive characteristics of instruments made prior to 1940s. The piano hammers during the era were the only one of its kind and are considered strenuous for duplication in modern days. However, Pramberger managed to work with L. Renner Co. in Germany and developed The Renner “Premium Blue”, recreation of those hammers. This fine piano hammers produce long-lasting classically beautiful melodies.
Renner-Pramberger Action
Pramberger also worked together with Louis Renner, which was founded in Stuttgart, Germany in 1882, to develop Renner-Pramberger Action. Renner-Pramberger Action is able to give sustainably dependable performance whereas its premium balanced touch is able to express every nuance of an artist's touch.
Bolduc Soundboards
André Bolduc soundboards are well-known internationally for their trustworthiness and high quality. Each winter-cut, North American white spruce log is meticulously examined by the Bolducs in their homes in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Québec. White spruce has long been a favorite soundboard wood due to its ability to generate powerful tone throughout a wide dynamic range.
