Guitar String

There are several types of guitar string available in the marketplace such as Elixir, Dean Markley and others. There is no significant difference for the quality of the strings, therefore it comes back to the preference of the guitarists. Guitar strings can be made of several materials such as nickel, stainless steel, phosphor bronze and nylon.
  • Nickel – It is normally used for electric guitar.
  • Stainless Steel – It is generally agreed that it will produce a sharper tone.
  • Phosphor Bronze – It is normally used for acoustic guitar and it produces a warmer tone.
  • Nylon – It is normally used for classical guitar.
  • Although thicker strings will produce nicer tone, it is harder to play. Thus, it is recommended for beginners to start with medium gauge strings. As you practise more, you can choose other strings according to your own preference.
