Franz Sandner violins are made in Germany and they are of high quality hand-crafted violins, labeled with reasonable prices and ranged from beginner to master quality level instruments. It was founded by Mr. Franz Sandner, who came from Schoenbach. Being established in 1924, Franz Sandner & Sons put together decades of violin making expertise from three generations since early 1900s, with the latest manufacturing technique. Under the leadership of Mr. Richard Schuh, the second president and Mr. Dietmar Schuh, the president following the former in year 1946 and 1979 respectively, Sandner became well-known internationally due to its production innovation. It has also been doing good in countries including USA, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea and the list goes on, both in manufacturing technology as well as market sales. Sandner and Taiwan Dynasty formed a joint venture, named Sandner Dynasty Co. Ltd. and this had led to the transfer of manufacturing technology from Germany to Taiwan and from Taiwan to Mainland China. These three bases customize the supply to different customer demands. The rapid expansion of Sandner is obvious when its series are distributed to more than 30 countries since the year 2003. It then takes up the name of “number-one-brand” among string instrument brands in Germany in twenty first century.

Lothar Semmlinger was once a student of Master Albert Lang, whereby he acquired the knowledge and skills of making string instruments. His capability was further magnified after he worked with Karl Hofner and got the title of "Master Craftsman of Bow Instruments" of the craftsmen Chamber of Numberg. He worked as a master for four years, set up his own workshop, manufactured his own instruments and carried on to serve Benedikt Lang which he eventually got in charge of. Since then, he began to produce finely handcrafted instruments with his two sons Stefan, Christian and two assistants.
Looking into the characteristics of Semmlinger instruments, the deep acoustic pitch and their excellent sound power are undeniably the strength that distinguishes it from others. Besides, Semmlinger also picks several types of woods to build his violins which include Italian poplar, maple from the Alps, Balcanic fir tree and ebony from India. All the raw materials are handled carefully and intelligently in order to produce the best instrument. Violins available from Lothar Semmlinger are designed for students to soloist.

Gibson
Gibson, a company that endured strongly and survived the downturn of guitar industry in the late ‘70s, is another name that is widely known in this industry. In year 1984, the Gibson international headquarters officially migrated to Nashville where this happened right after the shutting down of Kalamazoo plant. The downfall of the company had been quickly picked up by both Henry Juszkiewicz and David Berryman in 1986, who rebuilt Gibson’s brand name for quality and simultaneously increased its profitability.
Gibson is widely known for its production of electric guitars, especially Les Paul guitars back to 1974 in Nashville. Other than Les Paul, the classic designs that represent the company also include ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird and SGs. In order to fit into the demand for vintage stylings, the company reissued the dot-neck version of the ES-335 in 1981 and the flametop sunburst Les Paul in 1982. Besides, B.B. King and Chet Atkins joined Gibson in year 1980 and 1982 respectively. The former created Lucille model, while the latter came with his solidbody acoustic guitar. Today, Firebird X guitar generates new heights of functionality and usability for professional guitarist and enthusiasts by using newest and recently found technologies.

It is further expanded after an office in Seoul was set up, re-introducing itself to the world as an innovative guitar maker. This ensures that guitars of fine quality can be consistently produced.

In the same year, Rivieras and Sheratons, Excellente, Texan and Frontier flat tops were produced. The next year, Casino, Riviera, Sorrento, and Rivoli bass were re-launched. Following that in 2000, Epiphone introduced the Elitist range and strengthened its position in the acoustic market. In addition, the first factory was set up in China during the year of 2004.

L. Luthier
Mr. Adwin Lai, an experienced guitarist and guitar teacher, found the L.Luthier guitar in year 2009, with a vision to provide local guitar lovers with high quality guitars that make every penny paid counts. Luthier was defined as the master maker of fine strings instruments such as violin, guitar and so forth. By the naming of brand, L. Luthier pledged to never deviate from the quality that they have promised for the sake of better margin.
The company’s unique selling point of quality assurance can be seen through their standard operation procedure (SOP) of quality control method in monitoring and checking every single guitar from RM300 to RM4000. This is to ensure that the guitar delivered to customers is in perfect condition. In order to stick to their vision, the company is clear that they would commit to heighten customer satisfaction and services rather than simply focusing on the marketing activities. Alongside with that value, word of mouth is believed to be their best marketing strategy.
Since its establishment, L.Luthier has expanded at a rapid pace and becomes a main competitor in the market of this musical instrument, standing side by side with the other guitar brands. They supply acoustic guitars as well as classical guitars which are both manufactured in China. On top of that, they also provide full range of accessories like strings, classical and pop guitar scores, capo, drum sticks, tuner and so forth.

Fender
Since Fender Musical Instruments Corporation was established back in 1946, it has been playing a crucial role in evolving music of almost every genre including jazz, country and western, rock ‘n’ roll and so forth. They are the pioneer in manufacturing guitars, basses, amplifiers and related equipments. Besides, instruments such as Telecaster® and Stratocaster® guitars, as well as Precision® and Jazz® bass guitars are well-known internationally as design classics.
Telecaster® guitar was invented by Leo Fender from southern California in year 1951 and it was the first solid-body Spanish-style electric guitar produced in large scale for commercial purposes. In the same year, Precision Bass guitar was introduced. It has a sequence of bars or ridges on the fingerboard which is used for fixing the positions of the fingers to produce the desired notes, also known as frets. It was played like a guitar. In addition, it is able to amplify and release bassists from increasingly difficult-to-hear acoustic basses. These two inventions have become the foundation for modern rock combo.
On the other hand, Stratocaster was brought into the market in 1954 based on the feedbacks from professional musicians, Fender’s employee and the founder himself. The advantages included are more tonal possibilities due to the third single-coil pickup and easier access to upper registers because of its double cutaway. Not forgetting the new Fender vibrato (or “tremolo”) bridge also. In addition, Leo Fender also comes up with classic instruments and amplifier designs such as the Jazz Bass® guitar, the Jaguar® and Jazzmaster® guitars and the Twin Reverb® amplifier.
The company was eventually bought over by CBS in year 1965. William Schultz and his associate William Mendello then further expanded the company with dramatic quality improvement and commitment to research and development. In 1985, Fender’s flagship U.S. factory in Corona, California was established and the next manufacturing plant was set up in Ensenada, Mexico two years later. Besides, in order to accommodate professional musicians’ requests in customising their guitars, Fender Custom Shop was opened. Schultz retired in 2005 and the CEO position was taken by Mendello.

The founder of Pramberger Piano Ltd., Johann Joseph Pramberger, established this company in 1987, together with his father Anton, whom had worked in close proximity with him in rebuilding pianos. Anton, a Master Artisan since his young age, holds on to the principle that is being passed down to the family hierarchy, which is to “meticulously observe only the best work of others, and absorb every possible detail and nuance of their craft.” After migrating to United States from Europe in 1950, he worked as a pattern maker for fine pianos in Steinway piano factory in Astoria, New York for 25 years since then. At the same time, Joseph Pramberger moved to America with his father as well. Counting from year 1958 where he first took up the post as Design and Project Engineer in Steinway & Sons®, he used up 29 years in honing his skills and became the Chairman of the International Technical Exchange Group. The formation of his own company was followed by then.
Pianos designed by Pramberger are never pertaining to costs, but on quality of performance. In accordance to that, Joseph acquired mechanical engineering skills in New York University. Besides, he also traveled to several countries such as Europe, Japan and Korea to seek advice from key suppliers, so as to realize perfection in design. Joseph believes that a piano design will never have an ending. Thus, creating a high-rated piano marks the process of design evolution. Joseph never walked alone as his ideas and philosophies were shared by a handful of top piano engineers who were part of his teams.
Other than that, materials that Pramberger selected were all of high quality. They utilized an all maple rim on its grand pianos, which had been recognized as the best, together with oak and beech for the named model. Once again, their aim was not to save cost. Maple rim gives strength, resilience, and tonal excellence. Besides bottom beams of grand piano and back post of verticals are made up from spruce, tuning pins are from strong steel alloy whereas iron plates are gone through sand casting. Renner Blue Label AAA hammers and Pramberger/Renner Premium Performance action were also developed and used. Last to be mentioned will be the German Roslau Strings and the original asymmetrical Canadian White Spruce soundboard.

Premium Blue Hammer
Timbre, power and sustain were exclusive characteristics of instruments made prior to 1940s. The piano hammers during the era were the only one of its kind and are considered strenuous for duplication in modern days. However, Pramberger managed to work with L. Renner Co. in Germany and developed The Renner “Premium Blue”, recreation of those hammers. This fine piano hammers produce long-lasting classically beautiful melodies.Renner-Pramberger Action
Pramberger also worked together with Louis Renner, which was founded in Stuttgart, Germany in 1882, to develop Renner-Pramberger Action. Renner-Pramberger Action is able to give sustainably dependable performance whereas its premium balanced touch is able to express every nuance of an artist's touch.Bolduc Soundboards
André Bolduc soundboards are well-known internationally for their trustworthiness and high quality. Each winter-cut, North American white spruce log is meticulously examined by the Bolducs in their homes in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Québec. White spruce has long been a favorite soundboard wood due to its ability to generate powerful tone throughout a wide dynamic range.Saturday, 5 November 2011
Weber
Weber Piano was born on 8th July 1828, in Bavaria province of Germany. Being known as a perfectionist and piano prodigy, Albert Weber, the founder of Weber Piano, was not satisfied with the available pianos back then. Thus, he moved to New York in year 1844 and learnt from D.J. Van Winkle and Charles Holder, the popular piano makers in America at that time. 8 years later, the first Weber Piano store was opened in West Broadway. From year 1852 onwards, Weber Company manufactured high-rated vertical and horizontal piano that were then sold to upper class residents of Eastern United States, Royal home in Europe and the Vatican. It became a priced possession for many notable artists such as Ignacy Paderewski and Moriz Rosenthal and then signed an official brand management contract with Aeolian Co.. After that in 1987, Young Chang, a piano manufacturer which was originated from South Korea, took over Weber Piano.
Although Weber tone is not plain as compared to Young Chang piano, many see eye to eye that the cutting-edge series are representation of Young Chang platinum series and its professional artist series. Nevertheless, they are redesigned by Delwin D Frandich, a world-renowned American piano maker, which are then known as the Weber D series. He put forward two new models in the Weber line - W112 and W114. New features of D series are as follows:
A completely new frame and round tapered soundboard design
Rescaled stringing
New tenor and bass bridges
Longer back scales through the bass and other features that enhance bass response
Smoother transition across the tenor break
A better tone balance throughout the scale
New upgraded Royal George felted hammers, utilising a special cold press process
which preserves felt resilience, improves pianissimo and timbral dynamic
AA grade solid Alaskan stika spruce soundboards for upright models
AAA grade solid Alaskan stika spruce soundboards for grand models

Rapid expansion of the company leads to its larger market share globally, which include 50% of the Korean piano market. Besides building high quality upright and grand pianos, they also manufacture electronic Kurzweil Music Systems subsequent to its purchase of Kurzweil Music System, a producer of high-end electronic and digital musical instruments, in year 1990. Throughout the period since 1995, variety of new ideas on piano design is ushered in when Joseph Pramberger joined the company. Some examples of piano design are the “Platinum Touch Action” and the patented asymmetrically tapered soundboard. However, Joseph Pramberger passed away in 2003 and the name “Pramberger” can no longer be used by Young Chang.

Pianos:
Platinum series
Young Chang’s very own platinum series uses A-class northern spruce for soundboards, which bring forth first class sound transmission through the use of superior material in its key frame, back posts, soundboard and keyboard. The platinum series also come with the Platinum touch action, premium felt and Platinum blue hammers, delicately innovated dynamic structure of the Young Chang Dynamic Balance Platinum. The specialty of this series does not stop here. The Renner Hammer and Renner Action produced in Germany are applied upon the pianos to create distinct and beautiful music. It also has a Bridge undercut that endures a string tension of up to 400 pounds as it moves vibration to the soundboard, serves in maximizing volume. Besides, it is designed with an asymmetric tapered Soundboard to make the tone richer and sound more resonant. Sound ribs are crowned by machine asymmetrically. Lastly, the soft-glide piano feature is able to close the keyboard flap in a slow and gentle motion.Professional Artist Series
The professional artist series are ideally suited for professional musicians stressing on the desire to convey their feelings to the music. This can only be fulfilled by sensitive touch and dynamic responses during their play. Hence, this series is equipped with spruce soundboards with the highest sound-transmission coefficient. The precise action is complemented by the action of the piano which is made up of 4500 parts and hard maple. Each individual part is also created with an error tolerance of 5/100mm. Moreover, only wood with low specific gravity and highly elastic can be used to construct the keyboards so as to allow pianist to experience a firm sense of touch. Hammers are adjusted to hit the strings in less than 1/250 of a second while pin blocks are made of 17-layer laminated panel to raise bearing power. Following that is the frames cast produced through the V-process construction method.Y Series
This series consists of superior quality entry level pianos. It has 17-layer laminated panel to raise bearing stress of tuning pins and to ensure tuning stability. This factor helps when a piano is placed in a school auditorium or concert hall, whereby continuity of tone is highly emphasized. Other than that, Y series of Young Chang has the characteristics such as spruce soundboard, hard cutting aggraffes, maple pin board, hard maple Young Chang premiere action, Japan ambic hammer felt, vacuum processed cast iron plate and German Roslau wire. For more information about Grand piano and Upright piano, please click here.

Kawai
Being one of the widely renowned musical instrument companies in the world, Kawai’s fundamental principle is to constantly pursue quality, music appreciation and the artistic excellence. Their quest for exquisite and craftsmanship elevates the piano to an art form, an expressive extension of the artist. Despite the prestigious achievement of the company, it was humbly founded in 1927 by Koichi Kawai, a gifted piano craftsman in Hamamatsu, Japan. The tradition of family leadership at Kawai lives on from generation to generation by Koichi’s son, Shigeru Kawai and grandson, Hirotaka Kawai, who were then appointed as company president in year 1955 and 1989 respectively. Today, Kawai is graded at the top three piano brands, together with Yamaha and Steinway. They offer acoustic pianos extending from entry level home uprights to popular concert grand pianos. On top of that, they are also well known for their digital pianos and keyboards, for home and professional use.
Kawai marketed piano action parts which featured ABS Styran in early 1970s, marked a history in the world of music. ABS Styran is a strong and stable material that overcomes many complications associated with wood, namely shrinking and swelling. Following that in 1990s, these designs were steadily refined and improved until the unveiling of our “Ultra-Responsive ABS Action” whereby it outperforms traditional “all wooden” actions in the area of reliability, durability and long-term consistency of touch. Contemporarily, Kawai introduced the “third generation” of the piano action, namely the Millennium III. This revolutionary action utilizes innovative materials and design techniques to provide even greater satisfaction to the player.

Grand Piano:
A grand piano is made up of over nine-thousand precision parts, wood, metal, fiber, resin, and many other materials. Just assembling them into the mere form of a grand piano by itself, is an immense undertaking. Being one of the best in the musical industry, the range of grand pianos is the pinnacle of Kawai, from entry level baby grands to their renowned concert instruments. These world-class instruments readily translate artistic intentions into reality and are oftentimes the selection of many. The performance of Kawai’s grand pianos is paramount above all. Besides providing an extremely fast and controllable action, their grand piano’s mechanism design is able to give the pianist a responsive feel while playing on it.Upright Piano:
One of the basic factors that affects the quality of their upright piano performance is indefinitely the design of its mechanism. Kawai makes use of some composite parts including carbon fibre, to create a range of mechanisms which contribute to their pianos’ superior touch. The Kawai upright pianos range from K Series Professional Uprights and stunning FINO Interior Design pianos to the attractive designer consoles and sturdy institutional studio pianos. As we can see, there is a Kawai upright piano to customize for every taste, budget and musical requirement with proven assurance of Kawai quality.Digital Piano:
In order to produce outstanding and authentic piano sound, Kawai has come up with features such as the Harmonic Imaging, 88-key sampling, Wooden-key actions, USB digital audio and the unique Soundboard Speaker System, residing in their digital pianos and keyboards. The instrument is therefore suitable not only for learning and teaching, but also for performing. Besides, the Concert Magic feature enables beginners to produce music while learning the baby steps like controlling tone and rhythm. The available selections are Concert Artist digital piano, Concert Performer Series ensemble pianos and CN Series digital pianos.
